4.What to Do If Your Phone Is Lost or Stolen

  • Call or text your phone immediately (someone may answer)

  • Use your platform's built-in device finder:

  • iPhone: Find My app or iCloud.com/find (mark as Lost Mode)

  • Android: Find My Device (google.com/android/find) (lock and erase remotely if needed)

  • Contact your mobile carrier to suspend service (prevents unauthorized calls/SMS)

  • Change passwords for critical accounts (email, banking, social media) immediately

  • File a police report (needed for insurance and for tracking IMEI)

  • File an insurance claim (if you have device insurance or credit card protection)

Prep today: Enable device tracking, note down your IMEI number (dial *#06#), set a lock screen contact number (e.g., "If found, call..."), and back up your data regularly.
